Description	:	Boone County Democrat March 6, 1908 Samuel Harker, for more than 30 years a prominent resident of Boone county passed away Monday evening at his home in Peoples township. He had been ill only a few days and his death was wholly unexpected and comes as a severe shock to his family and friends. The funeral services were held from the Peoples Baptist church at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor of the church and attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends, burial in the cemetery at that place. Mr. Harker was one of the most prominent men in that part of the country and at the recent republican county convention was chosen a delegate to the state convention at Des Moines. He is survived by his wife and nine children, to whom is extended the sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
