Description	:	Centerville Daily Citizen May 13, 1907 Former Representative from Appanoose county to the Iowa legislature, Samuel Hixon, died this morning from kidney trouble, at his home, 714 West Jackson street, at 3:30 o'clock. The funeral services will be held tomorrow from the Central Church of Christ at 2:30 o'clock conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Sherman Hill. Mr. Hixon was one of Appanoose county's best citizens, having lived near Walnut City for many years, and but recently moved to Centerville. Mr. Hixon was one of Appanoose county's best citizens, having lived near Walnut City for many years, and but recently moved to Centerville. In 1870 he was elected on the Greenback ticket to represent Appanoose county in lower house of the Iowa legislature. He served one term. At the time of his death he was in his seventy-fifth year and leaves a large family, his wife and eight children, all but one daughter living in Allerton who is sick, being present at the time of his death. His children are: John Hixon, Centerville; Mrs. J. W. Ellis, Centerville; Mrs. Lydia Douglas, Moravia; E. P. Hixon, Richmond, Iowa; Mrs. Elmira (George) Blattner, Richmond, Iowa; Mrs. Leona Ellis, Powersville, Mo; Retta (Frank) Ockerman, Allerton, Iowa and J. W. Hixon, Marlon, Texas. Mr. Dixon was a devoted member of the Christian church having served as an official member of the church at Walnut City for many years. He was a good citizen, a kind parent and husband and a much respected citizen. His death will be universally mourned among his acquaintances, who loved and respected him very highly. Interment will be in Oakland.
