IRWIN (17, female, white, cook). Clement grows-up on his father's "Belle Farm" estate in Hickory, (Harford), Maryland, which is a farm that has a small number of slaves from 1840 to 1852. Clement's father is War of 1812 Veteran, Captain Henry John MACATEE, Esq. (1769-1852) who becomes an owner of land, horses, and slaves after marrying Teresa "Treacy" (Wheeler) MACATEE (1776-1815). Treacy's 3rd great grandfather was James Neale, Jr. (1650-1727) whose first-wife was Elizabeth (Calvert) NEALE (1664-1684), a direct descendant of the "Lord Baltimore" CALVERTs who, like, owned all of Maryland, or something -- I have not gotten that far into researching CALVERT yet. Point is: the MACATEEs marry-into owning-land and are devout Catholics. Some MACATEEs donate land to the Catholic Church, but it seems that the fortunes are running-out by the time Clement and Samuel, Sr. have families of their own. * mother: Rachel Ann (Quinlan) MACATEE (1812-1895) also of Harford county, Maryland, USA. The 1880 Federal Census lists both of Rachel's parents as born in Maryland, but little else is know about her parents, at this time. * Clement & Rachel have five children on record: 1.) Henry John MACATEE (1842-1918) is a farmer, marries Mary Margaret (Ramsey) MACATEE (1844-1901); they have nine children. As a widower, Henry remarries Catherine Lilly (Jenkins) (Jenkins) MACATEE (1861-1952); Henry has one more daughter with Catherine. Catherine's first-husband was her third-cousin-once-removed Henry C. JENKINS (unknown-1899); Catherine had four children with Henry. 2.) Elizabeth Ann (Macatee) WATKINS (1844-1910) marries Joseph Edmund WATKINS, Sr. (1842-1905); they have three children. 3.) Agnes Jane "Aunt Aggie" MACATEE (1877-1962) is a dress maker, becomes a nurse at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, never marries. 4.) Alonza MACATEE (1878-1878), infant son, lives four hours. 5.) William Reside MACATEE (1879-1895) lives sixteen years. 6.) Aloysius Eugene MACATEE, Sr. (1881-1956) is a machinist, marries Helen J. "Nellie" (Müller) MACATEE (1883-1964); they have six children. 7.) Theresa Virginia (Macatee) MACATEE (1883-1942) marries her second-cousin George Ignatius MACATEE (1874-1953); they have three daughters. Theresa & George are both great grandchildren of Cpt. Henry John MACATEE, Esq. (1769-1852). 8.) Samuel Joseph "Joe" MACATEE, Jr. (1885-1968) marries Helen Evelyn "Nellie" (Casey) MACATEE (1888-1924); they have five children.
