Description	:	Osage – Sam Costley, 87, former cream hauler and farmer west of Osage, died Friday evening at the home of his niece, Mrs. Ardene Brandau, Mason City. He had been in apparent good health, a heart attack causing his death. He was born March 29, 1862 at Platteveille, Wis., and came with his parents to Mitchell county as a young man. He had been in apparent good health, a heart attack causing his death. He was born March 29, 1862 at Platteveille, Wis., and came with his parents to Mitchell county as a young man. He married Hattie Torney in 1899 and the couple lived west of Osage. His wife preceded him in death two years ago. He leaves two half brothers, Jess Bracken, St. Paul, Minn., and Roy Bracken, Charles City; a half sister, Mrs. Maggie Eggers, Nora Springs. Also preceding him in death were three sisters and a brother. Funeral is at 2 p.m. Monday at the Champion Funeral Home; burial in Osage cemetery. Dallas Costley and Luticia Cannon were married January 13, 1867 in Grant County Wisconsin, (Wisconsin marriages –pre 1907 volume 4 page 0078) After the death of his father, Sams mother married Michael Bracken. Michaels Brackens first wife was wife Mary Frances (Cannon). Michael Bracken and Mary Frances Cannon were married March 16, 1857 in Grant County, Wisconsin. (Wisconsin marriages –pre 1907, volume 2 page 0213) Mary (Cannon) Bracken passed away August 31, 1879 and is buried in the Tucker Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa. Mary was a sister of Luticia Cannon. Luticia (Cannon) Costley Bracken passed away September 23, 1893 and was buried in the Rudd Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd, Floyd County, Iowa. ------------------------------------------------------------- Sam Costleys brother William T Costley born December 11, 1867 passed away January 31, 1908 and is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd, Iowa.
