Creek enlisted at the age of 17, as he lied about his age to get into the war. He was captured near Florida,Mo by the confederates but was released, then re-enlisted on Feb. 1, 1864. He was a private and became corporal, mustered out of Atlanta, Info from Ryan Creek - Samuel is NOT the son of chris creek - his father was jacob a. creek and i have many documents stating this. the one document that says his father is "chris" is in the fairfield library and was inaccurately submitted by a family member in the late 1970s or early 80s. Samuel's siblings included Sarah Catherine Creek (Bunker), Martin Luther Creek, William Allen Creek, Mary Ellen Creek (Hall), and George C. Creek. He also had 6 half-sisters when his father remarried to Catherine Knochel. These included Sophia Anna Creek (Keel), Mary Sophrona Creek, Nelly Victoria Creek (Keel), Lydia Jane Creek, Amanda Elizabeth Creek (Livingston), and Emma Creek.
