He was born July 29, 1942, at York, Pa., a son of the late Samuel L. Postlethwait Jr. and Florence P. Logan Postlethwait. He is survived by two sons, Douglas (Tammy Joe) Postlethwait of Stone Creek and David Postlethwait of Bowerston; five grandchildren, Dakota, Cheyenne, Hunter, Trenton and Jesse. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel L. Postlethwait Jr., who died March 23, 1977, and his mother, Florence P. Logan Postlethwait, who died July 16, 2001. He was a life resident of this area and a 1960 graduate of Conotton Valley High School. He was a veteran, having served as a staff sergeant in the Air Force. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Sam led an active life with his memberships in the Bowerston American Legion Post No. 581, NRA, VFW in Dover and had been active in the Boy Scouts. Sam was the manager of LK Restaurants. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, in Perrysville Cemetery at Perrysville, O. Burial will be in Perrysville Cemetery. Military graveside services will be held with Scio American Legion officiating. In keeping with Sam's wishes, he will be cremated with no visitation planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bowerston American Legion or any other veterans's organization.
