Read More	Akron Register Tribune: Thursday, June 1, 1922 and LeMars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, June 5, 1922 Lewis Barrington, a former resident of Akron, passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, on Sunday evening, May 28, 1922 at 9:50 o'clock, where he had been taking treatment for ulcer of the stomach. He was to have been operated upon the following day. Lewis Barrington was born August 17, 1860, in LaFayette County, Wisconsin, near Warren, Illinois, and died in Sioux City, Iowa, May 28, 1922, aged 62 years, 9 months, and 21 days. At the age of eighteen years he came with his parents he came with his parents to Woodbury County, Iowa, locating on a farm near Moville. There he met Miss Martha Smith and they were united in marriage April 6, 1879. This union was blessed with seven children-four girls and three boys. The eldest, a son died at the age of three years. Left to mourn are his wife and the following children: Mrs. Carrie Petersen, of Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. May Hamilton, of near Alcester, South Dakota; John and Henry Barrington of Sioux City, Ia.; Mrs. Hazel Blake, of Akron, Ia.; Mrs. Jessie Rush, of Merrill, Ia. There are also eighteeen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The deceased is also survived by three brothers and two sisters; Henry Barrington, of Pacific Junction, Ia.; Chas. Barrington, of Niobrara, Nebr.; Mike Barrington, of Sioux City, Ia.; Mrs. Phoebe Richards, of Crofton, Nebr.; Mrs. Sadie Hobbler(sic-Hoobler), of Boise, Idaho. The bereaved family have the sympathy of many friends. Mr. Barrington and family moved onto a farm in Union county S.D. a few miles west of Akron, about twenty years ago, and resided there ten years, when they came to Akron. He was employed here as a city street commissioner and marshal for some time. About three years ago the family moved to Sioux City, where Mr. Barrington was employed as flagman at one of the railroad crossings up to the time of his last illness. He was a worthy and industrious citizen, a kind husband and father, and a helpful and valued neighbor and friend. The remains were brought to Akron yesterday for burial, accompanied by Mrs. Barrington and sons, John and Henry, from Sioux City. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.V. Allison at the Christian Church. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery. All the children were present and other relatives from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Barrington, of Niobrara, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Richards, of Crofton, Nebr.; Henry Barrington, of Pacific Junction, Ia.; Mike Barrington, of Sioux City, Ia., and Roy Barrington, of Gayville, S.D.
