Funeral at Christian church, and sermon by Revs. Warbington, Sells and Weeks. The following was read during the funeral services: Bro. Samuel Lontz was born in Lancaster county, Pa., March4, 1802. He died June 29, 1884, aged 82 years. He came from Lancaster with his father at the age of 21 years to Montgomery county, O., near Dayton, where he was married to Ester Ritter, who survives him, in January, 1826, having lived together as husband and wife 58 years, the fruits of this marriage being nine children, six of whom are living and three passed away in infancy and childhood. It has been 23 years since there was a death in the family, until now. Bro. Lontz joined the Christian church during Father Ashley's administration, some 36 years ago. During his life he made home the base of action and ambition. He loved to attend the church, and when able was constantly in attendance. In his last illness he was resigned, patient and ready for his departure; like Paul, having fought a good fight and kept the faith, there were no consequences he stood in fear of. Dearest father, thou hast left us; Here thy loss we deeply feel; But 'tis God that hath bereft us; He can all our sorrows heal. Yet again we hope to meet thee When the day of life has fled; Then in Heaven with joy to greet thee, Where no farewell tear is shed."
