Keys, died this morning shortly after three o'clock of paralysis, induced by the pressure of a tumor at the base of the brain. The funeral will be held at the home Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, and interment made at Elmwood cemetery. Keys, died this morning shortly after three o'clock of paralysis, induced by the pressure of a tumor at the base of the brain. The funeral will be held at the home Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, and interment made at Elmwood cemetery. Mr. Keys was well known over Neosho county, being an early settler and at one time a candidate on the fusion ticket for county clerk. He helped build and was part owner of the Austin mills which burned several years ago. Of recent years he has resided on a farm east of town, and devoted his attention to fruit growing, being one of the largest berry growers in Neosho county. He leaves a wife and one son. A sister, Mrs. Mary Cowan of Des Moines, Iowa, was at his bedside when the end came. Mr. Keys was a member of the Urbana Lodge of A. F. & A. Keys a long time citizen of this county, died at his home on the farm six miles northeast of Chanute on Friday morning of last week and was buried in Elmwood Sunday. Sam was born in Illinois where he lived until the spring of 1889 when he moved to Kansas. He leaves a wife and one son, Harry. Sam was a Union soldier during the rebellion. He was a Mason and member of the Knights and Ladies of Security. He had been in poor health for some time and his death was not unexpected. He was 63 years old and died of a tumor of the head. Sam was a quiet man, good neighbor and fine man. He was universally liked by everyone. He will be missed in the community and mourned by many friends and relatives.
