Description	:	Samuel M. "Sam" Cox Jr., 75, of Spotsylvania County, the beloved husband of June H. Cox, went into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 26, 2007, after a long illness. Sam was a native of Harrisonburg and the son of the late Samuel M. Cox Sr. and Ruth Spring Cox. He was the owner of the Sam Cox Agency, specializing in group, individual life and health insurance, and had been an active member and former president of the Christian Businessmen. Cox, went into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 26, 2007, after a long illness. Sam was a native of Harrisonburg and the son of the late Samuel M. Cox Sr. and Ruth Spring Cox. He was the owner of the Sam Cox Agency, specializing in group, individual life and health insurance, and had been an active member and former president of the Christian Businessmen. He was also a member of Spotswood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Lancaster. He is survived by his wife, June H. Cox; two daughters, Karen Sue Cox and Jeri Lynn Conner and her husband, Doug; four sons, Samuel M. Cox III and his wife, Sharon, the Rev. James Paul Cox and his wife, Lisa, Dennis Jefferson and his wife, Theresa, and Butch Jefferson; one sister, Martha Holm; one brother, Jack Cox; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, at Northside Baptist Church with his son the Rev. James Paul Cox officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, Box 578, Spotsylvania, Va. 22553. The love Sam has for his Savior was always made known to others. His wife, family and friends will always remember and cherish his love and smile. He gave to them as a husband, father, granddad and great-granddad.
