Son of Caleb Penick and Margaret Campbell OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, January 28, 1915 SAMUEL PENICK Samuel Penick was born in Tuscarawas county, Ohio, May 26th, 1842, and died at his home near Lucas, Iowa, on January 11th, 1915, his age being 72 years, 7 months and 16 days. He was united in marriage to Eliza Fisher in DeKalb county, Indiana, on November 7th, 1863. To this union were born six children, three girls and three boys, two sons and one daughter having preceded him to the better world. Those living are Mrs. Kate Howard, Mrs. Ruby Anderson and Nate Penick, all being present at the time of their father's death. He gave his heart to God in his early manhood and continued faithful until the end. Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his loss two brothers and three sisters, sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. He was a kind husband and father. He was a patient sufferer for about four years, during which time he was tenderly cared for by his loving wife. The family wishes to thank their neighbors and friends for the their kindness and sympathy during his sickness and death. Funeral services were held at the U. B. Church, Wednesday at eleven o'clock, conducted by Rev. Cronk, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Norwood cemetery.
