Description	:	FULLERTON — Samuel R. King, 83, of Fullerton passed away Monday, July 3, 2017, at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Victory Baptist Church in Fullerton with the Rev. Phil Tilson officiating. Burial will follow at Fullerton Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 151 of Fullerton. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Sam was born June 26, 1934, to Ray and Hilma (Olson) King on the farm in Genoa. He grew up in Genoa and graduated from Genoa High School in 1952. On March 22, 1953, he married Dorothy Mae Whited, youngest daughter of Harvey and Mae Whited. They soon moved to Brownsville, Texas, where Sam served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years. They returned to Nebraska and lived in Fremont for three years. In 1960, they moved to the farm in Fullerton. He served as the Nance County Sheriff from 1974 through 2000. Sam was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Rifle Association and the American Legion. He was also a member of Nebraska Sheriff’s Association. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. In his later years, he took pleasure in the life of the farm. He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer King-Ihle of Omaha; three sons, Don (Janet) King of Fullerton, Ken (Yvette) King of Fremont, and Bob (Kim) King of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, Brooke Burbach, Erica Santin, Samuel King, Mallory Beck, Kenneth King Jr., Chase Ihle, Morgan Ihle, Sydney Lardy and Grant King; eight great-grandchildren, Tristan Burbach, Blake Burbach, Preston Burbach, Addison Burbach, Parker Santin, Emersyn Santin, Maci Beck and Josie Beck; and brother-in-law, Richard Whited of Fullerton. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy King; his parents; and younger sister, Patricia Owens.
