Description	:	Samuel Russell "Sam" Crisman, Jr., 90 years of age, of Hastings, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege) passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 at his son's residence in Hastings. Sam was born September 9, 1921 at Holdrege, the youngest of three children born to Samuel Russell Crisman Sr. and Edith Helen (Sewell) Crisman. Read More	Samuel Russell "Sam" Crisman, Jr., 90 years of age, of Hastings, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege) passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 at his son's residence in Hastings. Sam was born September 9, 1921 at Holdrege, the youngest of three children born to Samuel Russell Crisman Sr. and Edith Helen (Sewell) Crisman. Sam received his education at Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1939. He then pursued higher education at the Kearney State Teachers College for two years prior to being inducted into the United States Army. He was inducted into the Army in September of 1942, and served with combat Engineers in Europe until his honorable discharge on March 2, 1946. Sam then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering in 1948. He was employed in Holdrege for a few years, until moving to Omaha, Nebraska. On August 15, 1957 he was united in marriage to Maxine L.A. Crisman and to this union two sons were born: Gary Lee who passed away in infancy and Roger A. Crisman. The family made their home in Omaha until September of 1977, at which time the family moved back to Holdrege. Sam was employed by the City of Holdrege as a draftsman until his retirement in 1992. They were members of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church and the Emmaus Evangelical Free Church north of Funk, Nebraska. In 2008, Sam and Maxine relocated to Hastings to be near their son and his family. The couple enjoyed traveling and Sam will also be remembered for his love of tending to his yard. On August 30, 2010, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine. Sam leaves to mourn his passing; son, Roger Crisman and his wife, Amy; grandson, Sammy James Crisman all of Hastings; sister-in-law, Arlene Laurinat and her husband, Ed of North Platte, Nebraska; and a host of relatives and friends. Besides son, Gary Lee in infancy, and wife, Maxine; Sam was preceded in death by parents; brother, Thomas "Tom" and sister-in-law, Dorthy (Darling) Crisman and sister, Jean Hoff. Graveside Services and Interment were in the Moses Hill Cemetery northwest of Holdrege in Phelps County, Nebraska. Published in Kearney Hub on August 20, 2012
