Challis received a message Tuesday morning that his uncle, Sam S. Wright, died at his home near Humbolt, Monday evening. The deceased was a resident of this county for many years. He was 67 years of age at the time of his death. He leaves a widow and four children, one of whom, Mrs. John Grossnickle, resides about four miles south of Onaga. He was a brother to Mrs. R. S. Hick of this city. Samuel Suel Wright was born in Round Prairie, Richland county, Illinois, April 14, 1840, and died February 25 1908, aged 67 years, 10 months and 11 days. He was the only son of Suel Wright and Matilda (Salmon) Wright who raised a family of six children. [His father seems to have been born as Israel jr., but quickly called Suel, which became Sewall. Hick of Westmoreland; Mrs. Eliza Reed and Matilda Tuttle of Aurora, Illinois, and Mrs Amanda Phelps of Roslyn, Washington. Samuel Suel Wright was married, April 14, 1863, to Elizabeth C. Avery, who survives as well as their four children, Charles , Mrs. John Grossnickle, Onaga, Harlie B. Wright, and Mrs John Willhite, *Humbolt, Kansas. He came to Kansas in 1869 and bought a farm and after ten years he returned to Kendell co. Illinois, after the death of his mother. He returned to Kansas with his father, Suel and resided near Onaga for nine years, and moving from there to Humbolt in 1893. He was interred in the beautiful, Mt. Like his father he was a patroit and served his country as a solder in the War of 1812, participating in the battle of Sackett's Harbor. When a young man Israel Wright removed to Onieda county, New York, where he was a farmer. He was married in Onieda county, New York, to Miss Betsy Gridley, a native of Connecticut, and a daughter of Job and Mary (Porter) Gridley; nineteen years of age. They developed a farm in the midst of the forest, but in 1847 he moved to Lawrence county, Illinois, where he purchased land. He died in that place at more then 80 years of age. Issue of Israel and Betsy (Gridley) Wright Sewell "Suel", Ursula, Prudence, Russell, Betsey, Ambrose, Orrin, Armenas, Delos and Armenas who died in childhood.
