Davis, whose sudden and untimely death was a great shock to his many friends, were held at the Jackson Village Church on Friday, Nov. 8 at 2 P.M. Rev. S. J. Vernon, pastor of the church spoke words of comfort to the bereaved family. Merton Haley of Monroe was in charge. The bearers were his four sons. Mr. Davis one of Jackson's highly respected citizens, was born in Jackson April 2, 1886, the son of the late John and Eveline Davis. Mr. Davis one of Jackson's highly respected citizens, was born in Jackson April 2, 1886, the son of the late John and Eveline Davis. He attended the town schools and has always made his home in Jackson. In 1910 he married Floss Larrabee, who survives him together with their five children: Thelma of Augusta, Erving of Jackson, Henry of New Hampshire, Pershing and Llewellyn at home, also five grandchildren, Ruth, Elaine and Donald Davis, Mary Ellen and Henry Samuel Lawler, and one brother, Charles Davis of Dixmont. Mr. Davis was a blacksmith and mechanic. He had his blacksmith equipment on a little truck and traveled many miles shoeing horses. He was a first class mechanic, whenever any one had engine or motor trouble it was always go and get Sam, he'll know what the trouble is. The funeral was largely attended by friends and neighbors and the profusion of flowers were a silent tribute to a highly respected cititzen.
