In 1953 she graduated Salutatorian from Kittitas High then briefly attended Central Washington Normal School where she also worked in the administrative offices. On November 20, 1954 Sandy and Charles William "Bill" Johnson were married. Read More	OBIT: Sandy was born August 7, 1935 in Ellensburg, Washington, and was raised in Kittitas. In 1953 she graduated Salutatorian from Kittitas High then briefly attended Central Washington Normal School where she also worked in the administrative offices. On November 20, 1954 Sandy and Charles William "Bill" Johnson were married. Sandy and Bill raised four children and once their youngest was in school, Sandy began a 33-year-career working for the Washington State Jaycees. She excelled with the organizational and managerial skills required, but the "business" part of her job wasn't where she truly shined. Many will fondly remember her ability to fill a room with laughter while roasting her "boss" at the annual meeting she emceed for many years. She was truly a comedian with a sharp wit. In addition to her family, friends and work, Sandy grew beautiful flowers and vegetables for canning, dabbled in all kinds of arts and crafts, sewed like a pro, couldn't carry a tune, but loved Dean Martin. She knew how to handle her SkiDoo and tolerated Bill's love of Shetland ponies even after he brought one home in the back seat of the family station wagon. She enjoyed camping, but enjoyed reading more. She even managed to find time to be a Bluebird leader. Once Sandy mentioned her dislike for Pink Flamingoes and was inundated with them for years from family and good friends (Jaycees, mostly). She remarked to this: I wish I had said I didn't like DIAMONDS! After Bill's death, Sandy was blessed to have Kurt Linder come into her life. They married February 3, 2000. Kurt and Sandy had a lovely home in Ellensburg and for a couple of years they enjoyed being "snow birds" with their place in Yuma. Although their time together was too short, Kurt adored Sandy and made her very happy. Sandy was an very accomplished woman and loved by many. Her tremendous laugh will be dearly missed. Sandy is survived by daughter, Judy Johnson (Fred Tohm), J. J. Porro (Thom), son, Michael Johnson (Riva), and Robin Gilmour (Robbe). Grandchildren: Terin Tyler, Hailey Powell, Trey Wiesen Chas Wiesen, Denali Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Ellis Johnson, Grant Gilmour and Crystal Gilmour. Great-grandchildren, Jorden Tyler, Addyson Tyler, Madeline Gilmour, sister Barbara (Hayes) Scenna, Oak Parks, MI, brothers Jerry Hayes, Yakima WA, Joel "Cap" Hayes, Auburn WA, and numerous niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister Kay McPherson and brother Bill Hayes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sandy's name to Hospice.
