Mills, in Howard, Kansas, where he had made his home for the past three months, on Saturday, February 4, 1922, aged 69 years, 8 months and 17 days. Sanford Biddinger was born at Westport, Decatur county, Indiana, May 18, 1852 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alta M. Mills, in Howard, Kansas, where he had made his home for the past three months, on Saturday, February 4, 1922, aged 69 years, 8 months and 17 days. He was united in marriage to Electa Ellen McKinney, September 30th, 1875. To this union were born three sons and five daughters; tow of the children died in infancy and the daughter Cordelia passed from this life, September 19, 1899; the son Fletcher died March 18, 1907; and the wife and mother departed this life November 5, 1905. Mr. Biddinger with his family came to Buffalo, Wilson county, Kansas in 1887 and moved from Wilson county to Howard, Elk county, Kansas in the month of October 1892. He was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge, a good neighbor, kind to all, much loved by his sons and daughters who ministered to him constantly during the last three months of his life. He was converted and joined the U.B. church in 1900 and was a firm believer in the redeeming grace of the Son of God. During the last days of his illness he said many times he was ready to go, his days brought pain and suffering; death would bring peace and rest. He faced the duties of a pioneer wrought faithfully and well, gave to live his service, received from life scars and a broken body. The battle was waged for many weeks and all that love and medical aid could do could not arrest the power of disease, and Saturday morning at 5:20, the spirit took its flight, to be with God who gave it earthly being. He leaves two brothers, M.M. Biddinger, of Kansas City, and J.B. Biddinger, in the state of Indiana; his son Charles Biddinger and three daughters, Mrs. Alta M. Mills, Mrs. Mande Webster and Mrs. Mary E. Heater, all in or near Howard, Kansas; with these are three grandchildren, a host of friends and neighbors, who mourn the loss of a father, brother and friend. Servant of God, will done; they glorious welfare's past, the battle's fought, the race is won and thou art crowned at last. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield)
