Mrs. Golden was a woman well known and much loved by all who knew her. Saturday she was in town trading and etc. as usual, bright, happy and cheerful. Mrs. Golden was a woman well known and much loved by all who knew her. Saturday she was in town trading and etc. as usual, bright, happy and cheerful. Sunday morning she rose well as usual and assisted in the morning work about the house and afterwards with her own hands was preparing the Sabbath dinner for the family. During this she seated herself and began singing. Suddenly her head dropped forward. The family being about her rushed to her aid but mother was no more. She had gone to where "Religion's ray no clouds obscure, but n'er the Christian's soul, Christ sends a radiance, calm and pure, and pleasures forever round it roll." ***** From the Dallas County News, Wed., 19 May 1886 Sarah A. Golden, an old and substantial member of the U.B. church, was buried here today. The congregation was so large it was impossible for all to get into the house. She died suddenly while getting dinner on Sunday, but because she lived a Christian life she died a Christian. The writer preached her funeral from Rev. 14-13. The church was nicely decorated with flowers. We felt that no memorial service could be too good for her. She was one of the few who had no enemies. At the service was read the following: Obituary, Sarah A. Golden was born 15 Jun 1837 in Lake county, IN. and died 9 May 1886, in Dallas Co., IA, aged 48 years, 10 mo. and 24 days. Her life was one of busy Christian labor. Her reward is eternal heavenly joy. She died at work. She lives in rest. She leaves a husband and ten children at home, four married children, an aged father, four brothers and four sisters and numerous near friends to mourn her loss. Today her place is vacant in her own family, in her church and in her neighborhood, but it is filled in heaven. On Sunday near twelve o'clock she joined her kindred on the other shore. The way here to husband and children now looks sad but God is ready to help them all. Let them endeavor to say we will try to be comforted because the people of the community are our sympathizing friends, because she was prepared to go, because she died without suffering, because she is now better off than any of us, because if we are faithful Christians all shall meet her in heaven and because Jesus is a Friend who is ever near to comfort and help us. Edw. Curtis". Sarah was the mother of 16 children.
