White Mrs. Sarah Beatrice White, daughter of Robert Manley and Elizabeth Wade Hall, was born in Vale of Avoca, Dublin, Wicklow County, Ireland, February 2, 1875, and passed away at her home in Minneapolis, Kansas on May 26, 1956 at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 24 days. She came to the United States with her parents, four brothers, and three sisters, at the age of sixteen, and they made their home at Ellsworth, Kansas. During the first part of her young adult life she followed the school teaching profession. Her normal training work was received at Emporia Teachers College and Kansas Wesleyan University. While taking additional training in Education at Kansas Wesleyan she met F.D. White, to whom she was married on April 19, 1910. To this union two children were born, Ben and Helen. During the larger part of their married life they made their home in the Ada community. During her life she lived sixteen years in Ireland, nineteen years her residence was Ellsworth, Kansas; twenty-six years, Ada, Kansas; six years, Rice, Kansas; and the last fourteen years, Minneapolis. As to her religious and cultural life, Mrs. White was a member of the methodist Church in the communities where she lived. At the time of her death she belonged to the Minneapolis Methodist church. Throughout her life she gave her time and talent to teaching in the Sunday school and working in the church auxiliaries. She did considerable reading and will be remembered by her family for reading aloud from Longfellow's poems, the story, "Beautiful Joe," the Burgess books, and the Bible. She was a lover of flowers and was always successful at keeping her window full of house plants. Ill health came upon her and caused no end of disappointment. To this she responded with religious faith and medical assstance. She had a will to live and did what she could. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Helen, and the following brothers and sisters: Richard Hall, Robert Hall, Mrs. Harriet O'Conner, and Mrs. Margaret Hagy. Those who survive are her husband, F.D. White of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Hettie Patterson and Mrs. Carrie Snowball; one brother, Isaac M. Hall, all of Ellsworth; her son Ben F. Hall of Spivey, Kansas, and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. Joseph Buckles officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery at Ada. Gerald parks sang, accompanied by Mrs. G.V. Parks. Pallbearers were Frank Cromley, Fred Todd, F.L. Galpin, Stanley Haley, A.R. Miller, W.D. Lancaster.
