Mrs. Shields was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, April 14, 1864, the daughter of Sarah Jane Oldham and Wesley Benjamin King. She was married to Stephen Shields near here, March 6, 1887, and has lived continuously in this county for more than 56 years, having coming here with her parents from Illinois. Mr. Shields died here March 6, 1933. Surviving are two sisters, and three brothers, Mrs. S. H. Carr, Seattle, Washington; Mrs. Ida Parker, Los Galos, California, Jas, and Wesley King, Garfield, California, and E. F. King, Red Oak. Mrs. Shields was a member of the Methodist Church.
