Of this union, five children: 1. Paul Otto: b. 21 Aug 1907; d. 14 Jul 1940 2. Kathryn Adelia: b. 18 Jul 1909; d. 13 Aug 1987 3. Marie Ella: b. 5 Jan 1912; d. 18 Jun 1991 4. Martin Franklin: b. 3 Dec. 1913; d. 29 Jun 1931 5. Henry Edward "Ted": b. 8 May 1916; 17 Feb 1971 Married (2) William Edward Durst in 1927. Of this union, one son: 1. William Curtis: b. 6 Nov 1928; d. 8 Apr 1975 Three of Pearl's children tragically died. Son Paul Otto Filsinger died of a gunshot wound shortly before his 33rd birthday; son Martin Franklin Filsinger accidently drowned at age 17; and son William Curtis Durst died instantly at age 46 in a workplace accident when he was struck in the head by a board. OBITUARY: Cumberland News (Cumberland, Maryland), Thur, 24June 1971, p. 17: OAKLAND - Mrs. Pearl Durst, 85, of Swanton, RD 2, died yesterday at her home. A native of Hoyes, she was a daughter of the late Franklin and Hattie (Friend) Casteel. She was twice married. Her first husband, Otto Filsinger, died in 1916. Her second husband, William Durst, died in 1957. Mrs. Durst taught school in Garrett County for 17 years. She was associated with the Dry Run Mennonite Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn McCracken, Mesa, Ariz.; Mrs. Marie Nicklow, here; a son, Curtis Durst, RD 2, Swanton; a sister, Mrs. Hollie Lawson, Morgantown; seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. The body is at the Minnich Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 until 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev.
