She was the third oldest child of a family of eleven. While yet a child she moved with her parents to Brownville, Nebr. She was united in marriage with Jacob G. Koontz February 7, 1883. This union has been blessed by five children: George of Hastings, Mary of Douglas, Wyo.; and Charles and Roy of Edgar; Blanch preceded her mother in infancy. There are also 13 grandchildren and one great grand child. Besides these, she leaves to mourn, her husband, three sisters, six brothers, and a host of friends who knew her in this vicinity. Mrs. Koontz confessed Christ when about sixteen and united with the Church of Christ. She is also a member of the R.N. of A. of Nelson No. 5274. The Sisters of that Order had charge of the services at the grave. Although Mrs. Koontz had been in failing health for several years, her death came as a shock to those who knew her. W.R. Arnold, pastor of the Christian church of this city, preached the funeral sermon. Text was found in Heb. 12:2. "Let us run with patience the race that is set before us." The quartette rendered some beautiful hymns and a beautiful floral offering spoke of the tender sympathy and love of friends and relatives. Interment was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic) Wednesday afternoon.
