Description	:	Roy Koontz, 56, died suddenly last Friday evening at his home in Harbine following a sudden heart attack. He had suffered from a heart ailment for several years. Mr. Koontz was chef of the Chicken Hut Inn at Harbine at the time of his death. He had lived there for the past seven months. The Koontz' were well known here, having lived in Nelson for many years prior to 1923, when they moved to Edgar. Roy Elmer Koontz was born April 20, 1893, in Nemaha county (sic), Auburn, Nebraska, and passed away December 30, 1949, at Harbine, Nebraska, at the age of 56 years, eight months and ten days. He came to Nelson, Nebraska, in his youth with his parents and family and lived in the Nelson community for several years. On May 12, 1912, he was united in marriage to Hettie E. Hammond. To this union four boys were born, two preceding him in death, Granville and Jesse. He leaves his widow, Hettie E. Koontz of Edgar, Nebraska; son, Kenneth of Hamilton Field, California; son, Robert, of North Platte, Nebraska; three granddaughters, Patsy Ann of Beatrice, Lynne Dee of North Platte, and Roberta Lee of Hamilton Field, California; his father, Jacob Koontz, of Nelson, Nebraska; one sister, Mary Gitthens, of Nelson, Nebraska; one brother of Hillsboro, Oregon other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, January 3, 1950, at the Klawitter Chapel, Nelson, by Rev. E.B. Stewart, Methodist minister, Nelson. Music was played from recorded hymns. Pallbearers were: Ed Portwood, George Troudt, John Troudt, Harve Williams, Emil Klawitter and Joe Van Valin. Burial was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
