Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at 11 a.m. at New Good Hope United Methodist Church in Hemingway. Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Miller was born on Feb. 28, 1917, in the Good Hope section of Georgetown County, a daughter of the late John Alford and Sarah Lavinia Lowrimore Bruorton. She graduated from Union High School in Georgetown County and received nursing training at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, N.C. Mrs. Miller was born on Feb. 28, 1917, in the Good Hope section of Georgetown County, a daughter of the late John Alford and Sarah Lavinia Lowrimore Bruorton. She graduated from Union High School in Georgetown County and received nursing training at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, N.C. Mrs. Miller worked at Georgetown Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a former member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Georgetown. She served as president and pianist of the Suzanna Wesley Bible Class and was a circle leader. Mrs. Miller was an active member of New Good Hope United Methodist Church in Hemingway. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by husbands Hugh Doris Mitchum and Floyd Miller Sr.; brothers, Ernest and LeRoy Bruorton; and step-son, Bobby Jeff Miller. Surviving are her children, Carlie Jo Mitchum Johnson of Florence, Sarah Lynn Mitchum Hall of Charlotte, N.C.; John Doris Mitchum of Columbia; step-sons, Floyd Miller Jr. and Harold Miller, both of Hemingway; sisters, Hyacinth Bruorton Rosenau of Conway and Mary Bruorton Powell of Pawleys Island; four grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Memorials may be made to New Good Hope United Methodist Church Piano Fund, P.O. Box 491, Hemingway, S.C. 29554.
