Millard, daughter of James and Sarah Freeman, was born at Stittsville, New York on July 2, 1838, and died at her home near the centre of Saline County, Neb., on March 28, 1887, aged 48 years, 8 months, and 26 days. About 1846, her parents moved to Lima, Wis. At her father's house, September 30, 1854, she was joined in holy wedlock with Stephen Millard, of Jefferson County, Wis. In 1760 at Koskunone she was converted and became a member of the Congregational church. In the spring of 1879 Mr. Millard came with his family from Wisconsin to Nebraska and settled near the centre of Saline County where they still reside. God gave these parents nine children, one of which He took to Himself before He took the mother. Mrs. Millard has been in delicate health for more than a year. On the 23d of March she took the measles and in five short days she passed away. She was a faithful Christian worker. Her greatest usefulness for good was in her home, and next in the Sunday-school. She brought up her children as none but a faithful Christian mother can do. In Sunday-school she served successively as scholar, teacher, and superintendent. In the neighborhood her influence was only good and that continually. She naturally shrank from public notice, but never from duty, nor yielded to discouragements. She was self-forgetting, untiring, loving, conscientious, and devout. She became a more efficient Christian worker from year to year. Though sadly missed in her family, Sunday-school, the church and the neighborhood, her influence must be immortal in many a life, and her memory ever green in many a heart. — Newspapers.com; The Crete Vidette-Herald, Crete, Nebraska, 05 May 1887, Thu, Page 3
