Among the mourners at his bier were Mrs Marshal Brittan who lived just east of Crete, Mrs DeEtte Campbell of this city, and Mrs. James Brittan, of Pleasant Hill, daughters of the deceased. On April 23rd, Mrs [Clara] Marshal Brittan died from measles and was buried at the side of her father. Last Sunday [13 May] Mrs. [Almira] James Brittan's baby [Ernest] died of measles and was buried on Monday, and on that day [14 May] the mother, who had also been sick with the same disease, was unable longer to bear the repeated sorrows that were brought upon her, and she, too, joined the father, sister and babe, in the land where all sorrows and pains are tempered with the pitying hand of the Divinity. Mrs James Brittan leaves a husband and three children to mourn her death. The deceased was a member of the Congregational church, lived an earnest Christian life, and was faithful to every trust imposed upon her. The bereaved relatives merit the sympathy of all their friends. ~~~
