(Info provided by member # 47198955) This obituary was published in the Atchison Daily Globe, Atchison, Kansas on February 04, 1946, page one. Mrs. J. H. Case Dies Aged 86 Mrs. James H. Case, 86, died yesterday morning at the home of her son, Emmett Case, 1221 L street. She had been seriously ill since last October following a fall. Mrs. Case, whose maiden name was Sarah Elizabeth Armstrong, was the daughter of William and Martha Armstrong, Kansas pioneers who settled on a farm near Topeka. She was born on this farm February 10, 1860. On May 27, 1877, she and James H. Case were united in marriage in Andrew county, Mo. They began housekeeping on a farm there and lived in that county until 1907, when they moved to Montrose, Colo. After living in Colorado a year, they moved to Atchison county where they spent the remained of their lives. In 1939, they celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary. Mr. Case died March 7, 1940, and since that time Mrs. Case had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Case. Mrs. Case was a lifelong Christian and was an active member of the First Christian church as well as a member of the Helping Hand Sunday School class at the church. She was always interested in helping others, and was devoted to her family and many friends. She was the mother of 13 children, 10 of whom survive. Two sons, Frank Case and Joe Case, and a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Raish, preceded her in death. Surviving children include Mrs. J. F. Wilcox of St. Joe, Mrs. Julian Stuart of San Bernadino, Calif., Roy Case of Montrose, Colo., Mrs. R. M. Moss of Lawrence, and Mrs. C. A. Cummiongs, John Case, Mrs. James Nielson, Mrs. Earl Draper, Mrs. Ross Knowles and Emmett Case, all of Atchison. Mrs. Case is also survived by two brothers, T. P. Armstrong and Albert Armstrong, both of Atchison, 43 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Christian church with the Rev. Loyal S. Northcott, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in the Cummings cemetery, two miles north of the Orphans Home. The body is at the Stanton and Stanton mortuary where it will remain until the hour before the service. The body will lie in state at the church form 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. Music for the services will be furnished by Mrs. William Allison, Mrs. Case's niece and Arthur Armstrong, her nephew. Pallbearers will be six grandsons, including Frank Case, John Case, jr., Clair Wilmeth, Victor Wilmeth, Charles Moss and Donald Wilcox.
