Description	:	Sarah E. Pickering, daughter of John Q. Pickering and Atlanta Yeakley. Story is that John only saw his daughter once, and Henry he died before he was born. Her mother moved from Indiana to Americus, Lyon Co., Kansas and she moved with them. Sarah Bell married Charles Bell and nothing more is known of them. Yeakley and Margaret Wright (same cemetery) Henry Yeakley and Susannah McNees (Quaker Knob Cem-Tenn) George Yeakley and Anna Deppen (Stone Valley Cem-PA and she (Lost Creek Menonite Cem-PA) George Yeakley fought with Rodgers Rangers during the Indian War of 1754-Berks Co., Militia during the Rev War. Susannah McNees Yeakley was deeply involved in the underground railroad in Greene Co., Tennesse in the early 1800's. Henry, her husband fought in the War of 1812. It was Susannah who was 3rd generation Quaker and she raised her children as Quakers. Henry and Susannah lived in several communities in order to establish Meeting Houses in each place. In my ramblings, I found the Pickering family at the same Monthly Meeting in Rhea, Tennessee, New Hope Monthly Meeting, as the McNees family. I believe, without proof, that the group moved together to different places to establish Monthly Meetings. Too many places and times to just be by chance. Each Meeting house holds their own books and it is more than enteresting to read them. The Cemetery connected to this meeting is Quaker Knob Cemetery and you will find the Pickering family there. Sadly her obituary in the Emporia Daily Republican on Thur 2 Feb 1893, has her mothers name spelled incorrectly so I did not use it. Another person has found it and ask me to copy it to this memorial but...knowing how people do not do the research, I choose not to because they will take the speling as the "truth" and mess up the family tree.
