Mrs. Emmaline Carrico passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Nelson, in Battle Creek, Saturday, January 15, about 6:30 p.m. She was taken with a third paralytic stroke at 3 o'clock Friday morning and was unconscious until death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Whisler at the Baptist church Monday afternoon at 1:30 and burial was made in the family lot at Union cemetery. Six grandsons, W. H. Mrs. Carrico was born in Grayson county, Virginia, October 29, 1843, being 83 years, 2 months and 15 days old. She was married to George Owens in 1858 and to this union three children were born, two of whom died in infancy. Her first husband was killed in the Civil War and she was married to E. J. Carrico in 1865. To this union were born, Elbert, Betty, Steve, Minnie, George, Rose and Wiley, all of whom are surviving. She came to Nebraska with her husband and children in 1903, settling in Madison county. Her husband died eight years ago. She was baptized and became a member of the baptist church at the age of twenty-one and lived in that faith until death. Besides her eight children, Mrs. Carrico is survived by sixty six grandchildren, sixty nine great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.
