Read More	Mount Pleasant (IA) News Thursday, 26 May 1927 WELL KNOWN ROME WOMAN PASSES AWAY, FUNERAL ON TUESDAY The whole community of Rome and vicinity were grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Sarah Messer Beaber, the beloved wife of David W. Beaber, which occurred at her home in Rome on Saturday, May 21, 1927. She was ill for about a week preceding her death. Her going so suddenly and unexpectedly made her demise all the harder to bear. Funeral services were had on Tuesday afternoon. There was a short service in the home, and them the sorrowing company went to the church at White Oak. Pastor Frank Weston, assisted by Rev. Floyd E. Mangel, pastor of the Mennonite church at Trenton, conducted the service. The text was Luke 23:43, "Today shalt thou be with me in Paradise." Miss Marry Swailes and Mrs, Velma Swailes Kinney sang very helpfully, "Going Down the Valley," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "The Lights of Home." Mrs. Hugh White was accompanist. There was a large attendance in spite of the heavy rain of the morning and the unusually bad conditions of the roads. Many beautiful and expressive flowers covered the casket. The pall bearers, all nephews, were Ellsworth and Chauncey Fields, Chris, Cleo and Sheridan Messer, and Wayne Caldwell. Interment was in the White Oak cemetery. Sarah Frances Messer, daughter of Josephus and Rebecca Ann (Huffman) Messer, was born in Henry county, Iowa, October 11, 1885. She was forty-one years, seven months and ten days old at the time of her death. September 28, 1902, she and David W. Beaber were united in marriage. Four children were born to them, Mrs. Roy Nau, Rome, Iowa and Albert, Edith and Ledru, all at home. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, the four children, one grandchild, four brothers, Zion, Freeman, Sheridan and Joe Messer, all of Rome; four sisters, Mrs. Jesse Fields. Weeds, Calif.; Mrs. Tom Caldwell, Lockridge, Iowa; Mrs. B. C. Flanders, Salina, Iowa; and Mrs. Edward Scarff, Rome, with a host of other relatives and friends. Her father and two sisters, Rhoda and Alice, preceded her in death. Sarah Beaber was an earnest disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ. in 1910 she was converted and united with the Baptist church of Rome, pastor Frank Weston baptizing her with many others who were converted during the summer of that year. Later, on removing to the White Oak neighborhood, she joined the church in that vicinity. she was beloved by all who knew her. She was faithful in every place in life where she was called upon to fill, a good daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend and neighbor. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and acquaintances. Her bereaved husband, aged mother, family, and other relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of many in their hour of sorrow.
