Scarff, 81, died at the home of her daughter in Rome Sunday, April 9, at 8:20 a.m. The daughter of Josephus and Rebecca Huffman Messer, she was born Oct. 27, 1879 On June 1, 1898 she married to Edward L. Scarff, who preceded her in death. Of this union were born three daughters and one son, Mrs. Howard (Leona) Ensminger of Rome, Mrs. Bernard (Nellie) Erickson, Mrs. Walter (Grace) White and LeeRoy Scarff, all of the Mt. Pleasant area. Of this union were born three daughters and one son, Mrs. Howard (Leona) Ensminger of Rome, Mrs. Bernard (Nellie) Erickson, Mrs. Walter (Grace) White and LeeRoy Scarff, all of the Mt. Pleasant area. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Luvina Flanders of Lockridge and Mrs. Emma Jane Caldwell of Rome. Four brothers and four sisters died previously. Mrs. Scarff was superintendent of the Sunday School of the Rome Baptist church for 40 years. She was a retired postmistress of Rome, having served 30 years in that position, and retired at the age of 70. Funeral services will be held at the Rome Baptist church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Revs. Elton Colman and C. H. Peters will officiate. Interment will be in White Oak cemetery. Scarff, who died April 9, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Rome Baptist church. The Rev. Elton Colman and Rev. C. H. Peters officiated. Mrs. C. H. Peters accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Swanson who presented vocal selections. Bearers were Edward Ericson, Ralph Ericson, George White, Kenneth Ensminger, Robert Campbell and Gayle Ranard.
