Davis, died in the McCready Hospital Friday morning of last week, at the age of 73 years, after having been a patient there for several weeks. She became seriously ill a few days before Christmas and was taken to the hospital for treatment at that time. Born in Crisfield, she was daughter of the late Sidney and Sally Ward. She had lived in and near Crisfield all her life. Mrs. Davis was a fine Christian woman esteemed for her many admirable qualities, and possessed a large number of friends who received news of her death with sincere sorrow. She reposed at her home on the old State road near Hopewell until Sunday afternoon when funeral services were held in the Pilgrim Holiness church in Lawsonia, conducted by the pastors, Rev. Nellie and Louetta Holden. Interment was in a private cemetery near Hopewell. The funeral services were largely attended by relatives and friends who held her in genuine affection. She is survived by her husband, Alonzo Davis and four children, Geo. Dewey Cox and Mrs. Vernetta Ann Swift of Crisfield, and Benjamin L. Cox and Theodore Cox of Buffalo, N.Y.
