Blanton Substitute teacher in Cherokee County schools GAFFNEY – Sarah Gresham Blanton, 90, of 131 Crestview Drive, College Park Subdivision, widow of Lt. Colonel A. Jack Blanton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at her residence. Mrs. Blanton was a native of Simpsonville and a graduate of Limestone College, where she was a former president of the Student Body. She taught at BatevilleLeesville High School and was a substitute teacher in several Cherokee County schools. Mrs. Blanton was a member of Gaffney First Baptist Church, where she was secretary/ treasurer of the Junior High Sunday School Department for many years. She was also a member of the Florence Martin Hamrick Circle. Mrs. Blanton was a longtime active member of CHAPS and a charter member of the American Association of University Women. She and her husband, Jack, owned and developed the College Park Subdivision, a lovely area of homes near the college. Surviving are a sister, Helen G. Kinard of Simpsonville; a sister-in-law, Julia M. Gresham of Simpsonville; a niece, Judy G. Gault of Simpsonville; and three nephews, Dr. W. Frank Kinard of Charleston, Richard G. Kinard of Greenville and Dr. Frank M. Gresham of Baton Rouge, La. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Blanton was preceded in death by a brother, Metz L. Gresham, of Simpsonville and a sister, Bright G. Parker, of Gaffney. Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Joel Sellers and Dr. M.B. Morrow Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice in Gaffney. Family members will be at their respective homes. Arrangements by Blakely Funeral Home, Gaffney
