SARA, YOU ARE MY GREAT, GREAT GRANDMOTHER. THANK YOU FOR THE VALUES YOU INSTILLED IN YOUR CHILDREN AND FOR HELPING RAISE MY GRANDMOTHER, VICTORIA SHEPPARD, AFTER SHE AND HER SIBLINGS WERE ORPHANED IN 1901. REST IN PEACE AND HONOR.

SARAH (HAYES) EATON OBITUARY: Sarah Hayes was born in the State of Indiana on March 28, 1839, and departed this life on September 25, 1914, aged 75 years, 5 months and 28 days. She was married to Aaron Eaton on November 25, 1856. To this union were born 12 children, 9 sons and 3 daughters. The husband and one son (Charles and two daughters (Cynthia & Martha Eaton Sheppard) preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing away one daughter, Mrs. J. R. Forshee (Nan) of Desloge; eight sons: A. J. (Aaron), H.P. (Porter), Gallant and Marvin, of Desloge; John, of Valles Mines; Matthew, of Anniston; Abe, of Farmington, and Wm., of St. Louis; 42 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. "Grandma" as she was familiarly called, professed faith in Christ at an early age, joined the M. E. Church, South and lived up to her faith until her passing away. Her funeral services were conducted at the home of her daughter at 9:30 Sunday morning, September 27, by Rev. J.J. Clark. Interment took place at the Richardson Cemetery, 8 miles east of Bonne Terre. Services at the grave were conduct by Rev. J.J. White. She was placed beside her husband's grave to await the resurrection morn. Read less
