Kerr a prominent business man of Mt. Sterling died last Saturday morning as the results of burns received, the morning before. She was using coal oil in starting a fire at her home. There must have been sufficient fire in the stove to turn the fluid into gas, causing an explosion which (fire) her clothing. She was horribly burned and suffered terrible agony until relieved by death twenty-four hours later. Mrs. Kerr's maiden name was Sarah Case. Besides her husband J.W. Kerr, she is survived by five children: Mrs. Clara Armstrong, Mrs. Lillie Hamlett, Miss Ida Kerr, and Elmer and Frank Kerr, all of Mt. Sterling. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon.
