SARAH CHALLY Services for Mrs. Sarah Jane Neese Chally, 94, former Stratford area resident, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home. Mrs. Chally died yesterday morning at the Glen Lake Sanitarium in Minnetonka, Minn., where she had been in ill health for the last two and a half years. The Reverend S.W. Cunningham will officiate. Sarah Jane Butrum, the daughter of Silvester and Sarah Lee Butrum, was born April 4, 1880 in Homer, Iowa. She was reared and educated in the rural schools there, and married to Arthur Van Buren Neese on April 8, 1896. The couple farmed there for six years, later moving to Hancock county for two years. The couple then bought a farm near Stratford where they farmed for more than 50 years. Mr. Neese preceded her in death in 1947. She was later married to Louis Chally. The Challys then made their home in Stratford. Mr. Chally preceded her in death in 1954. In 1960, she moved to Bemidji, Minn., to live with her son and family, and lived at the Glen Lake Sanitarium for the last two and a half years. She is survived by one son, Leo Neese of Bemidji; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bessie McGuire of Webster City, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents, three sisters and three brothers. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
