Description	:	Mrs. Philip G. Jeans. Sarah Hibben Jeans, daughter of John and Phoebe Hibben, was born in Uniontown, Penn., June 21st, 1823 and died in Hillsboro, May 1st, 1902. In 1830 her parents moved from Uniontown, coming down the Ohio in a houseboat and landed at Manchester, where the goods were loaded on wagons and carried across the country. Her first affliction was the death of her brother Thomas, and from him she received her first religious impressions. Sarah Hibben Jeans, daughter of John and Phoebe Hibben, was born in Uniontown, Penn., June 21st, 1823 and died in Hillsboro, May 1st, 1902. In 1830 her parents moved from Uniontown, coming down the Ohio in a houseboat and landed at Manchester, where the goods were loaded on wagons and carried across the country. Her first affliction was the death of her brother Thomas, and from him she received her first religious impressions. In 1841, she was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church under Bishop Foster and in this religion she was faithful until death. By her sweet influence and example, all of her children and grandchildren became members of the Church. In 1841 her mother died and soon after two sisters. Her eldest sister [Mary Ann] leaving three children, she left school to take care of them. After the second marriage of her sister's husband [John S. Campbell] she returned to school, graduating. She taught awhile in Lawrenceburg, Ind. [home of her brothers, William W. and Henry Bascom Hibben lived], also in Perington [Perintown], Ohio and then in Mr. Matthew's school of this place. While in Perington [Perintown], she met Philip Gatch Jeans, to whom she was married January 6, 1853. To them was given a long and happy wedded life. Her life companion having preceded her only a little over two years ago. To them were born four children, two of whom still survive, the others dying in infancy. She leaves a large circle of friends who sincerely mourn her departure. . . She was a strong advocate of the temperance cause, and a member of the band of crusaders, whose work beginning here, has made Hillsboro immortal. She was always faithful in her church work as long as she was able to go, often saying she would rather attend a good prayer meeting than any of the amusements of life. Out of a large family only one survives her, Mrs. H. L. Stout [sister, Harriet L. Hibben], of Columbus. . .
