Description	:	Orangeville lost a highly regarded resident last week in the person of Sarah Silk, beloved wife of the late John Nelson Cameron, who passed away in her sleep at her late residence on Bythia St., on Monday, April 4th, in her 81st year. Read More	Orangeville lost a highly regarded resident last week in the person of Sarah Silk, beloved wife of the late John Nelson Cameron, who passed away in her sleep at her late residence on Bythia St., on Monday, April 4th, in her 81st year. Her death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage. Born at Redickville, Melancthon township, Mrs. Cameron was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Silk and a granddaughter of William Silk, who settled in the "Old Survey," Melancthon in 1838. At the age of nineteen she married John Nelson Cameron, of Nobleton. The young couple settled in Shrigley district in Melancthon, where they farmed for some years and then moved to Shelburne, where they lived until 1892, when they came to Orangeville. Mr. Cameron, who had been with S. H. Rutledge in the monument business in Shelburne and Orangeville for 35 years, died in 1935. Mrs. Cameron was a member of the United Church and had been very active in church work earlier in life. She was a kindly, warm-hearted woman and her neighbors always found her very helpful in times of trouble or bereavement. Her demise is mourned by three daughters and a son, Mrs. Jos. Smith (Mary Etta), of Roseray, Sask., Mrs. G. S. Wellar (Lucy Jane), of North Bay, John Franklin Cameron, of Toronto, and Mrs. J. D. Mills (Aretta), Orangeville. Rev. Victor Fiddes was in charge of the funeral service at her late home at 2.30 p.m., Wednesday, April 6th, and was assisted by Mr. F. M. Eagleson, a neighbor and close friend. Interment was made in the family plot in Greenwood cemetery. A large number of lovely flowers expressed the sympathy and esteem of neighbors and other friends. Mrs. Cameron was the youngest surviving member of a family of five. In addition to her own family she is survived by six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The pallbearers were Albert Curtis, Joshua Bradley, T. K. Slack, M. L. Standbrook, W. H. C. Kearns and Harvey Bradley and the flowerbearers Alvin Holmes, Leonard Maxwell, Elgin Sawden and John Moon.
