Description	:	Mrs. Sarah M. Davis, daughter of Thomas Cooper was born in Pansy, Illinois August 29, 1848 and passed away at her home in Valley Falls Friday afternoon, February 24th at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 26 days. She was married to Charles Davis when he was back in Illinois on a furlough from the Civil War, on August 6, 1863. Read More	Mrs. Sarah M. Davis, daughter of Thomas Cooper was born in Pansy, Illinois August 29, 1848 and passed away at her home in Valley Falls Friday afternoon, February 24th at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 26 days. She was married to Charles Davis when he was back in Illinois on a furlough from the Civil War, on August 6, 1863. Mr. Davis returned to war and served for one year and four months after they were married. In the meantime, Mrs. Davis' family moved to Kansas where Mr. Davis joined her after he was discharged and they went to housekeeping on the Uncle Dave Walker farm. In 1871 they purchased a farm in the Blue Mound neighborhood, a farm still owned by Mrs. Davis at the time of her death. Thirty-six years were spent in the Blue Mound neighborhood and there five daughters and six sons were born. In 1897 Mrms. Davis moved to town and purchased what was known as the Swallow home which has been the Davis home since, and it was from this home Uncle Charley passed on to his reward in 1920. Grandma Davis is survived by five daughters, Miss Nettie Davis of Kansas City, Kans., Miss Jennie Davis, Mrs. Bert W. Booth, Mrs. Emma Smith, and Mrs. Rose (John) Butts, all of Valley Falls, four sons, Lou R. Davis of Valley Falls, William C. of Great Falls, Montana, G. Edward of Masters, Kans., John of Geneseo, Kans., fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; two sons, James and Thomas having preceded her in death.
