Description	:	Sarah Rebecca Russel was born in Iowa City, Iowa, Sept. 22, 1841. At the age of eleven she was left an orphan. She then made her home with an older sister until 1859 when she was united in marriage with Elige Fordham. To this union was born Willis Fordham of Formoso. In 1867 she was again united in marriage to William Myers. To this union six children were born: one daughter, Mrs. Mae Turner of Wheatland, Wyo.; five sons, Arthur, also of Wheatland, Wyo.; Robert, Charles and Samuel Myers of Formoso, and James Myers of Mankato. In 1871... Read More	Sarah Rebecca Russel was born in Iowa City, Iowa, Sept. 22, 1841. At the age of eleven she was left an orphan. She then made her home with an older sister until 1859 when she was united in marriage with Elige Fordham. To this union was born Willis Fordham of Formoso. In 1867 she was again united in marriage to William Myers. To this union six children were born: one daughter, Mrs. Mae Turner of Wheatland, Wyo.; five sons, Arthur, also of Wheatland, Wyo.; Robert, Charles and Samuel Myers of Formoso, and James Myers of Mankato. In 1871 they came to Kansas and homesteaded. During the many years of pioneer hardship she was always cheerful and ready to lend a helping hand in time of need. She was baptized in 1870 and united with the Methodist church. In early days when churches were few, their home was the center for religious work. She was a devoted mother wanting to minister to her children's needs even though her strength was hardly sufficient for her own needs. Her husband passed away in 1906 and for the past eighteen years she has made her home among the children. She had been in failing health for the past year, but did not take seriously ill until Saturday morning, and she passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 11th, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 29 days. She leaves to mourn six sons, one daughter, twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren, also other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral services were held at the home of her son, Sam Myers, on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Gilbert Park, assisted by Rev. Milner.
