Her obituary appeared in the Littleton Courier of 2 Feb 1911, under the heading "Death of Mrs. Sarah Brooks," as follows: "The death of Mrs. Sarah Brooks, widow of the late Otis Brooks, occurred Monday, Jan. 30th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Corliss. Mrs. Brooks's death came as a great shock to her friends as she had been in her usual health up to the day before she passed away, when she complained of a pain in her chest. It was not considered of a serious nature, however, and her recovery was hoped for. On Monday afternoon she was visited by several of her children and seemed very comfortable. They had been gone a short time when she passed very peacefully away. Mrs. Brooks was born at Easton, Oct. 4, 1828, and was the youngest daughter of Winsor and Clarissa Kendall Drury. She was a descendant of Joshua Kendall, who served seven years in the Revolutionary War. Her marriage to Otis Brooks occurred in June, 1849. Six children were born of this union, all of whom are living and all but one over 50 years of age. The first break in the family occurred four years ago in Dec., when Mr. Brooks died. Mrs. Brooks is survived by three sons, Willard, Isaac and Winsor, all of Franconia, and three daughters, Mrs. Fred Edson, Mrs. Clarence Corliss of Franconia and Mrs. E.H. Shaw of North Haverhill; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Brooks was a quiet, lovable woman, always cheerful and devoted to her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Brooks had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Corliss, for several years and there the burial service was held Wednesday at 2 o'clock with Rev. W.E. Dennett of Lowell, Mass., as officiating clergyman. Music was furnished by a quartet, Mrs. M.E. Ballard, Mrs. L.B. Howard, C.F. Bingham and Fred Jesseman. Burial was in the village cemetery."
