Last Rites for Mrs. Sadie Mahlin, Formerly of David City Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Elizabeth Mahlin, formerly of David City, who died in Fremont Tuesday night, May 17, were held in the David City Christian church at 2 o'clock p.m. Saturday, May 21, conducted by Rev. A. O. Swartwood, of Fremont, formerly pastor at Rising City, following services at Fremont in charge of Rev. E. M. Johnson. Three hymns, "Going Down the Valley," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "My Father Planned It All," were sung by a quartet, Mrs. Anna Taylor and Ida Howie, Rev. W. L. Goodell and H. A. Hahn, Miss Stella Hoker pianist, L. J. Eberly, C. G. Hoker, Harry Keill, Peter Mysenburg, Henry Want and J. F. Zeilinger were the pallbearers. Burial was in the David City cemetery. Mrs. Mahlin sustained a stroke of paralysis while in California three years ago. She was stricken a second time Sunday night, May 15, and lived 48 hours without regaining consciousness. She was in her 67th year. Mrs. Mahlin was born near Mifflintown, Pa., October 9, 1860, and lived there until moving to Walnut, Ill., in 1879. She was married to George S. Mahlin at Walnut May 4, 1880. The came to Nebraska and Butler county four years later, residing on a farm until moving to David City in 1910. Mr. Mahlin died October 16, 1919, and Mrs. Mahlin then went to Fremont to reside. Surviving her are four sons, Harvey G. Mahlin and Edgar F. Mahlin of Rising City, Jay C. Mahlin of Smithfield and Eugene L. Mahlin of Fremont, also nine grandchildren and one brother, L. A. Garman, of Whitier, Calif. Mrs. Mahlin was a kindly woman and had many friends. She was a faithful member of the Christian church, first at Summit, near Rising City, then at David City and at Fremont during her residence there. -------------------------
