Description	:	Sarah married her first husband, Gideon Harness, on August 17, 1838, in Greene County, Ohio. Gideon and Sarah are seen in the 1850 Census for Wabash, Darke County, Ohio, with their children: John, age 10; Harman, age 8; Eleanor, age 6; and Susannah, age 2. There is an article on Gideon and Sarah's son John Harness on Pages 502 and 503 of "Portrait and Biographical Album of Wapello County, Iowa," published in 1887 by the Chapman Brothers. Read More	Sarah married her first husband, Gideon Harness, on August 17, 1838, in Greene County, Ohio. Gideon and Sarah are seen in the 1850 Census for Wabash, Darke County, Ohio, with their children: John, age 10; Harman, age 8; Eleanor, age 6; and Susannah, age 2. There is an article on Gideon and Sarah's son John Harness on Pages 502 and 503 of "Portrait and Biographical Album of Wapello County, Iowa," published in 1887 by the Chapman Brothers. This book is now in the public domain, and the article can be read on-line. The last paragraph of that article states that Gideon Harness, "departed this life at his home in Green Township in 1856, at the age of forty-one years, eight months and sixteen days." That year of death appears to be incorrect, as Gideon made a will on May 15, 1857, and a copy of that will may be seen in ancestry.com. An estate was probated for Gideon on July 11, 1857, in Wapello County, Iowa. I believe that Gideon is probably buried here in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, but I have not found a record of him being buried here, and I have not found a gravestone for him. He is not listed in the WPA readings of the cemetery, but if there was a stone for him, it was probably missing by the time they did their readings. Sarah was remarried to Alexander Holady [sic] on August 11, 1859, in Wapello County, Iowa. In the 1860 Census for Wapello County, Sarah's children Ellen Harness, age 15; Susan Harness, age 13; Frederick Harness, age 8; and Gideon Harness (born in Iowa), age 4, were living with her and Alexander.
