Savilla D. Shuler was born in Elimsport, Penn., Feb. 2, 1856, and passed away Mar. 18, 1940, at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 15 days. She came to Iowa when a young girl and was the youngest of a large family of children. Her father and mother, brothers and sisters have all preceded her to the great beyond. She was married to O. D. Hall Aug. 5, 1875. This home was blest with eight children: Sherman of Guernsey; Carrie Kensinger of Detroit, Mich.; Homer of Guernsey; Glen of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Kathryn Crider of Marshalltown; Fred and Clyde of Brooklyn, and Helen Akery of Marshalltown, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren all of whom survive her. For 37 years, she and Mr. Hall lived on a farm in Scott township, where they were held in high esteem by all who knew them. In 1912 they moved to Brooklyn. Mr. Hall passed away seven years ago. Mrs. Hall continued to live in Brooklyn until last fall when she went to Marshalltown to live, where she was tenderly cared for by her daughters. For the last several years she has been a patient sufferer, bearing her loneliness and affliction in silence. She was a member of the Fairmount M.E. church, later transferring her membership to the Methodist church in Brooklyn. She was also a member of the Aid Society, Missionary Society, Mirriam Sunday School class, and a Charter Member of the Loyal Temple No. 121, all of which she was active in so long as her health would permit.
