Pallbearers were William Sterrett, Lester Sterrett, Ray Sterrett, Matt Hohn, Werner L. Brodkorb and Warren Brodkorb. Scott Sterrett was born on a Cedar county, Iowa, farm on July 21, 1861. He lived in the Ida Grove neighborhood and at Denison for a number of years. He was united in marriage there with Miss Ida Newton November 1, 1885. The couple moved to Jerauld County, South Dakota, in 1908 and reared a family of five children. The eldest, Howard, died in 1937 at the age of 50 years. The second child, Ada Ruth (Mrs. Carl Tripp) died at the age of 48. Lewis Lester, the third child, is a patient in the hospital in Mitchell. The fourth, Goldie (Mrs. Walter Theeler) died at the age of 45. Ernest died at the age of 33. Mrs. Sterrett died in 1924. He was remarried to Mrs. Anna Schmidt in 1930 now of White Lake. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive besides many other relatives.
