Description	:	Clark Sterrett, the eldest son of William Sterrett and Mary Ann Chambers, was born March 2, 1856, in Cedar County, Iowa. At the age of 18 he came with his family to Crawford County where he met and married Mary Eliza Thompson on September 4, 1876, at Denison. They were the parents of nine children. A son died in infancy and a daughter, Cora, passed away when 24 years old. A son died in infancy and a daughter, Cora, passed away when 24 years old. In the spring of 1913 the family moved to the Anthon vicinity where Mr. Sterrett passed from this life Tuesday evening, January 31, 1939, at his farm home 5 ½ miles northwest of Anthon at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 20 days. Services were held at the Anthon Methodist Church with Rev. L.A. Hunsley officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon. Mrs. Sterrett preceded him in death December 10, 1937. Survivors include four sons, William, Edward and Arley of Correctionville, and Walter of Anthon, three daughters, Mrs. Addie Vaughan of Lance Creek, Wyoming, Mrs. Mabel Fitchner of Anthon, and Miss Nellie at home; two brothers, Charles of Los Angeles, California, and Scott of Wessington Springs, South Dakota, 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.∼Obit in The Anthon Herald: Funeral services were held at the Anthon Methodist Church with Rev. L.A. Hunsley officiating. Frank Renneker, Ray Dicks, Oscar Goodman, Fred Holcomb, Martin Jansen, and Forrest Yockey were the pallbearers and interment in Oak Hill Cemetery was under the direction of Hudgel's Funeral Service. Green of Vail, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Sterrett of Charter Oak, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Thompson, Bert, Noah and Snowed Thompson, Jay Thompson and daughter Beth, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Wight, Mrs. Ace Ettleman and Mrs. Mark Pearsall, all of Dow City.
