SCOTT IRA GROTH, 63, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on April 20, 2018 in West Point, Nebraska. He was born May 10, 1954 in West Point, Nebraska, the son of Erwin and Ruth (Grunke) Groth. Scott was educated in West Point Public Schools, graduating from West Point High School in 1972. During high school, Scott worked at Lubker’s Car Dealership. After graduating from high school, Scott owned West Point Cycle, a Kawasaki snowmobile and motorcycle shop and was also the part-time projector operator at The West Theatre. He carried his entrepreneurial spirit into a variety of businesses and real estate holdings. In the late 80’s-90’s he was employed at Lindell Trucking which led him to strike out on his own and start his own trucking company - SIG Trucking, which he operated until 2006. After selling his trucking business, Scott concentrated on clearing the Groth family farm and reclaiming the land. If you ever asked if Scott was busy…he was quick to reply “…WORK…WORK…WORK”. Just scrapping all the metal, keeping various properties mowed and demolishing the buildings on the farm was a huge job and Scott managed it all with a shrug of his shoulders and his typical humble demeanor. For over ten years, Scott was a bus driver for the Guardian Angels Central Catholic school system. Scott loved this job, especially driving the GACC High School girls to all of their sporting events. He always kept his family in stitches relaying his ‘girls’ games and how well they were doing. Scott was an organ and tissue donor. Scott is survived by his older brother Jim (Marilee) Groth, younger brother Stan (Jean) Groth, and his sister in Tennessee, Mary Groth. Scott also has a nephew in Lincoln (Tyler Groth) and a niece (Emilee Groth) in Omaha. His extended family (cousins) in Nebraska and friends in Tennessee and Kentucky, also mourn his passing and join his brothers and sister in celebrating his life and will forever hold him close in our hearts.
