Description	:	Selma M. Serfoss, 91, of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at her residence in Waverly. Selma Marie Serfoss was born on April 26, 1924, the daughter of Rev. Frederick and Helene (Graf) Ide at her home in Richfield, Iowa. She was baptized by her father at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Richfield. Selma Marie Serfoss was born on April 26, 1924, the daughter of Rev. Frederick and Helene (Graf) Ide at her home in Richfield, Iowa. She was baptized by her father at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Richfield. She attended grades 1 thru 8 at Bethel #4 country school and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1942. She was employed at Lutheran Mutual (CUNA) in Waverly from 1942 until 1951. On February 24, 1951, she was united in marriage to Orvel Ewald Serfoss at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. For 21 years from August of 1965 until her retirement on September 5, 1986, she worked at Wartburg College in the mail room. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, baking and reading. Survivors are her husband, Orvel Serfoss of Waverly, Iowa; two daughters, Susan (Roger) Lenius of Waverly, Iowa and Nancy Luloff of Des Moines, Iowa; son, Terry Serfoss of Cedar Falls, Iowa; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Gies of Longmont, Colorado and Margaret Standley of Mason City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; three, brothers, Herbert Ide, Conrad Ide and David Ide and two sisters, Ruth Dusenberry and Barbara Moore. Memorials service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa with Pastor Joyce Sandberg officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Waverly, Iowa. Per Selma's request, her body has been cremated and the family will greet family and friends on Friday from 1:00 pm until the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either Cedar Valley Hospice of Waverly or St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa.
