Description	:	Armond “Don” Alarie, age 85, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away November 20, 2014, at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs. Don was born on January 27, 1929, at a farm home near Wessington, SD to Clarnece and Mable Harris Alarie. He attended a rural school in Hand County and was a 1946 graduated from Huron High School . Read More	Armond “Don” Alarie, age 85, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away November 20, 2014, at the Michael J. Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs. Don was born on January 27, 1929, at a farm home near Wessington, SD to Clarnece and Mable Harris Alarie. He attended a rural school in Hand County and was a 1946 graduated from Huron High School . Don then enlisted in the Army and was sent to Italy with the Army of Occupation at the end of WWII. After about a year he returned to the United States and worked in the Pentagon in Washington, DC, for the balance of his enlistment. Don returned to South Dakota and attended South Dakota State University in the fall of 1949 majoring in Chemistry. He received an associate’s degree in chemistry after two years. On August 12, 1951, Don was married to W. Billie Swain in Miller, SD. The marriage has lasted for over 63 years. Don was the past Master of the Wessington Masonic Lodge, a member of the United Church of Christ in Yankton, SD, Huron, SD, and Prescott, AZ. Don is survived by his wife, daughter, ; son,and, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Kent. Committal services will be held 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
