Services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church by Rev. Gary Hoyt and Rev. Dr. Richard H. Skelly, Pastor Emertius. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello at a later date. Bob is survived by his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Barbara (Blaine) Waychoff of Cedar Rapids; two granddaughters, Brianne Waychoff (Ben Powell) of Baton Rouge, LA and Abigail Waychoff of Chicago, IL; a goddaughter, Cari Patterson Werner of Williamsburg; and three sisters, Betty Siebels, Selma (Harlan) Hawker and Minnie Stogdill all of Monticello. His son, Robert, and sister, Doris Freeze, preceded Bob in death. Bob was born July 31, 1928 in Monticello the son of Otto and Helen Bensch Otten. Bob married Ruth Ambuehl on February 27, 1951 in Monticello. He served in the Army with the First Calvary Division during the Korean Conflict. Bob received commendation from the South Korean Government, the Korean Presidential Medal and a Purple Heart. Bob retired in 1984 after working for Northwestern Bell and ATT as a PBX installer for 36 years. Following his retirement Bob worked at Teahen Funeral Home. Bob was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Bob loved his family and friends and was known for making friends with everyone he met. He loved his home and always took great pride in his yard. Bob found pleasure working, going to the hardware store, chopping ice, and tinkering in his garage. Instead of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
